DOWNLOAD: Rihanna - We Found Love (Eos Remix)

Lord knows I don’t dub hard and hardly dub, but sometimes these tunes just spear right through me. Think of me as a piece of Dijon-Rosemary steak (obviously), and the beat is the skewer that makes me into a more well-rounded shish kebob. A friend’s recommendation brought me upon this kid Eos. Calling him a kid is no insult: he’s actually 15 years old, and if anything I feel insulted because at age 15 I was still wetting the bed and watching Spongebob marathons. However, my bed wetting still continues because of Eos’ soul-igniting beats: they show endless hope and promise in their synthy buildups, but at the climax of faux stability, the devious dub buildup begins pouring electro gasoline all over your soul until Eos’ drop sparks the inferno. What I like the most is that Eos doesn’t lose sight of the beat by going off into some dubby tangent; instead he keeps everything in tempo and dubs while progressing the flow of the song. If you’re looking for your new Skrillex, I’ll do you one better: meet Eos. Big props to my dude Harris for showing me the light, and be sure to peek at the next big dubstepper on his Soundcloud

Hang In There Friends!

UPDATE: Remember us friends? It’s been awhile since we did this thang, but out of sight does not always mean out mind: we’ve been tirelessly working on a new home to drop, a new website. That’s right, a new nest to nourish our surrogate baby beats in, with the same domain but more places to click with your mouse. The full package this time, including reviews, previews, and even seaviews* (*seaviews not included). With all that good stuff being said, it’s finals time in Binghamton, so site progress is just as limited as what I learned this semester, so please stay patient and your efforts with be rewarded with audio gold.

DOWNLOAD: Beyonce - Best Thing I Never Had (Monophobia Remix)

You know that Beyonce song that plagued the radio in the middle of summer? (Let’s be real, I didn’t listen to the radio by choice, I was commuting to summer class early morning so 4/5 days I left my Pod at home). I always felt it was as out of place as a clown at a funeral, with Beyonce vocally bitching out some dude who tried to ‘play her’ or something dumb like that, randomly tossed on top of some pretty, calming piano melody. Think of it like eating Manhattan Clam Chowder in Boston; you just don’t do it/you might get shot. Not only is she verbally vicious, but her tone is as razor sharp as a barracuda’s mouth after a nice flossing and fluoridation. Monophobia felt the same, because in their remix the instrumentals match Beyonce’s vocal intensity and give this little monster the habitat it needs to run wild in. I know I’m 4 months late, but it helps me to sleep at night knowing that a song was released where it belongs, into a natural environment with others of its species. That’s a thing I’d like to call remixical justice.

DOWNLOAD: Chris Lake - Sundown (Original Mix)

My love for Chris Lake began as a puddle, but over time my puddle has accumulated more saturated beats, thus expanding it into an ocean of admiration (you thought I’d say ‘lake’ for a 3rd grade play on words, didn’t ya?). I feel like a proud parent watching Lake make friends with new sounds while maintaining his individualism. He’s like the Bourne Identity if Jason Bourne was able to remember who he was; Lake still remembers his roots and what his sound is about, but is able to adapt like a professional Darwinist on the changing electro/tech house times. His newest release ‘Sundown’ reminds me of the perfect gentleman: loaded with racks on racks on racks of swag that basically undresses you with a devilish bassline, but just as you feel you zipper going down, the sexuality is struck with a precise amount of sensitivity from the vocals and acoustic breaks. If you were forced to pick a song to become human and marry your sister, you’re looking at a top candidate right here.

PREVIEW: Michael Calfan - Resurrection (Axwell’s Recut Club Version)

Absolutely out of control Axwell right here. I told myself I wouldn’t post again till we launch LivefortheDrop 2.0 but this can’t really wait. With new additions to the team, a new website, an obscene amount of rave gear, the Drop team will be taking it to the next level within the next week, and with all the ridiculous concerts coming up, it couldn’t come at a better time. The next time someone asks you if you like the holiday season, tell em of course you do…who doesn’t love Tim Mason on Thanksgiving Eve, a massive stuffing of Chuckie on a full stomach on Thanksgiving night, SHM @ MSG, Avicii on new years….Dayglow New Years Day?!?!?! It really is the season of raving…I mean giving. To quote a good friend “Ma brain is done”. - A. Coursey.

PREVIEW: David Guetta - Titanium (Alesso Remix)

There have been 3 solid ‘Titanium’ remixes that have kept me captivated, 2 of which you’ve already nibbled on if you’ve been consistently dropping with us. My counterpart Lips showed you the massive dBerrie remix and recently gave you a live preview of Alesso’s remix. Alesso threw us dogs a bone yesterday by posting this studio preview on his Soundcloud, and its sound is something sent straight from God down to Earth in the form of musical chords. Think of it like opposite rapture. The drop is the star of the show, with the buildup foreshadowing a whole lot of love coming in 12 seconds, so pull someone nearby real close and hold on tight. It’s basically a necessity to find someone to lick faces with during the drop of this song, and yes, it still counts if you’re locking lips when the song isn’t technically playing but you hum it in your head.
